Interior of the modern Church of St Joan of Arc (1979) in the ancient Place du Vieux-Marché (Old Market) in Rouen, where Joan was burned for heresy in 1431. The stained glass comes from the 16th century Church of St Vincent which was destroyed by bombs in 1944, fortunately the windows had been removed and stored in a safe location.
Rouen, sitting on a navigable section of the River Seine in northern France, is Prefecture of Normandy, and once one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe.
