The smallest painting in Chantilly is also the most precious, 'The Three Graces' by Raphael (1483-1520) in the beautiful Chateau de Chantilly 30 miles north of Paris. The ancestral home of the House of Montmorency until the 17th century, then home to the Princes of Condé, cousins of the Kings of France, until the Revolution forced them to flee, and the estate to be ransacked. Rebuilt in the 19th century It now houses the Musée Condé and belongs to the Institut de France.
