The gothic ruins of Beauport Abbey near Paimpol in Brittany - Founded in the 13th century, it controlled extensive land in both in Brittany and England (a gift to the founder from William the Conqueror, for his help in the conquering of England). The institution survived until the French Revolution when, along with all other Abbey's in France it was closed down.
