Eleanor and Henry II - British Royal tombs in the now austere surroundings of Fontevraud Abbey near Chinon in the former French Duchy of Anjou.
Henry II, his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, and their eldest son Richard the Lionheart all rest in the austere surroundings of the former Abbey, that was stripped of its finery and converted into a prison by Napoleon in 1805.
The Order was finally dispersed during the French Revolution, when all property of the Catholic Church was declared to be the property of the nation.
