The 18th century marble High altar by Charles-Antoine Bridan in magnificent Chartres Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres). The 12th century Cathedral is considered 'one of the worlds finest examples of Gothic architecture' due to surviving largely intact, including the original glass, for over 800 years - It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
