The 'Assumption of the Holy Virgin' by Peter Paul Rubens (1626) above the high altar of the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp. The huge church was begun in 1352 in Gothic style by architects Jan and Pieter Appelmans, but has been ransacked and torched on several occasions throughout the turbulent religious history of the Low Countries.
